John here, blogging again and looking at “injury awareness week” that has just passed.
Injury Awareness Week 23-29th June 2025
What is injury awareness week?
Injury Awareness Week took place on the 23rd-29th June 2025. This was organized by APIL, the association of personal injury lawyers, www.apil.com This is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping injured people rebuild their lives and to campaigning for improvements in personal injury law. I am a member of it and have been since the 1990’s.
What is it for?
This event is to help raise awareness generally of the right to claim for compensation and of the sheer number of injuries that are caused by negligence. Personal injury can affect all aspects of the victim’s daily life, and many will never fully recover. With greater awareness comes prevention, recognition, and help. We at Ibbotson Brady Solicitors were proud to support this awareness week.
As a member of APIL I have access to the valuable APIL forum to enable me to collaborate with other personal injury lawyers in a confidential manner and to provide clients with an exemplary service. There are many helpful resources available to me through this link up.
See the statement below from APIL president Matthew Tuff:
There is still a lot of unfair and unhelpful stigma around personal injury claims and the victims are often labelled ‘winners’ if they are awarded compensation. However, this is far from the reality. Injured people are not winners. They often have their worlds turned upside down by the injuries that they suffer. Some are lucky enough to recover to full health, but it may take a long time. They may be out of work due to the injuries and face a lot of costly treatment and rehabilitation to get there. It is not a case of “winning”, it is a case of being entitled to pursue a valid claim for the harm and loss caused.
Others are not so lucky, and their injuries impact upon the rest of their lives. Some have to give up working completely and rely on others to look after them.
Either way, every person that suffers physically, emotionally and financially due to suffering personal injury has had their lives disrupted in some way through no fault of their own. Making a claim is not just about seeking money, it is about helping people get back to their lives and back into the position that they should have been in but for the negligence as far as that is possible.
Accident or Negligence?
Sheer accidents happen all the time, of course and often, unfortunately, nobody can be held responsible for these. However, if there has been negligence, under the law in England and Wales, compensation is likely to be available.
Here is a brief summary of the difference between a sheer accident and negligence:
More detail and some examples of each can be found in this APIL article: https://www.apil.org.uk/accident-or-negligence
What we can do to help?
We at Ibbotson Brady have well over 20 years of experience in the field. We specialize in helping people who have been needlessly injured due to the negligence of others. We can help with organizing funding for rehabilitation and treatment so that you can recover as much as possible. We can also help to recover loss of earnings and other losses that have been suffered as a result of the negligence.
If you have been injured and you are not sure whether it was caused by a sheer accident or by negligence, you can get in touch for a free case evaluation. We almost always consider acting on a no win no fee basis too.
That’s all for now, best wishes,
John
